The most important safety tip regarding aromatherapy oils is that they are highly flammable, so be sure to keep them away from naked flames or sources of heat!
- Never take any oils orally.
- Read the label for warnings and cautions.
- Never apply essential oils neat on the skin (only a few are OK to do this with. Check with your aromatherapist.
- When using the oils be sure your working in a well ventilated area.
- Be aware of the cautions assiosiated with the essential oils your using.
- Keep away for children and pets.
- Keep the oils out of eyes, ears, nose, mouth.
- If you have allergies its a good idea to carry out a skin test prior to using a new oil.
Storage of oils.
- Ensure the oils are stored in dark, amber bottles to protect against sun damage.
- Store the bottles in a cool, dark, dry place. If you use a lot of essential its a good idea to buy aromatherpy box to keep them all togther and hidden from any light.
- Make sure the lids are sealed tightly because oxygen will make the oils go off.
- After using some oils the bottles can become sticky, it can be a good idea to wipe to top of the bottle before putting the lid back on. Otherwise you mightn't be able to take it off the next time.
